The council of Toulouse corroberates the repression of the cathars in the Languedoc.

1233 Pope Gregor IX. entrusts the inqusitioners - dominicans - with the pursuit of the cathars. Inquisition!

1242 Assassination of 2 inquisitors in Avignonet.

1243 Beginning of the siege of the MontsÈgur

1244 Fall and stakes of MontsÈgur

1249 Death Raymond VII. of Toulouse.

1270 Death of Louix IX.

1271 The independant shire of Toulouse is annexed to the crown of France.

1321 Guillaume BÈlibaste, last of the parfaits, is killed at the stake in the castle of Villerouge-TÈrmenes.
